Fusion Hair Extension FAQ

Here are the answers to some common questions about Fusion Hair Extensions.

Q1) Am I a candidate for fusion hair extensions?
a) Your hair should be at least 4" long for fusion, and it should be healthy enough to hold the extensions.
b) Hair extensions require some maintenance that you may not be used to. As long as you perform your aftercare, your extensions will be gorgeous until it's time to remove them.

Q2) Will fusion hair extensions damage my hair?

Damage can occur from inexperience and lack of knowledge for both the extension artist and the
client.

Here are some examples of fusion hair extensions gone wrong:

a) the extensions weren't applied correctly (eg, the bond to hair ratio was wrong, the
placement wasn't correct, the bond weren't rolled tightly, too much heat was used during
fusion, etc)

b) the extension hair was poor quality, or not cuticle correct (matting and tangling occur)

c) extension color wasn't matched properly at first, so the stylist ended up coloring them
and they became damaged

d) The client ignores their assigned aftercare routine (eg. avoids brushing properly, uses
wrong hair products, over conditions, etc.)

e) The extensions are left on the head for more than 3 months (as your natural hair grows
out it sheds and can become tangled/matted between the extension bond and the scalp, etc.)

f) Removal is sloppy and hurried.
(Additionally, certain removing agents have acetone or other harmful chemicals that are
drying to the hair.)

Things can go aesthetically wrong too, such as:

i) the hair is the wrong texture for the client
ii) the hair extensions weren't cut and blended correctly after installation
iii) The extensions were colored improperly (we prefer to not color the extensions at all, but rather, perform a perfect color match from the beginning)

We make certain we do our part from beginning to end - and educate our clients on how to care for their extensions.

Q3) What kind of hair is used?
We use Remy cuticle correct hair - from India and Europe depending on the texture of your hair (ie. how much curl it has, and how fine or coarse it is.)

Q4) How much does it cost?
Most women want a full head for volume and length, so on average, for 18" fusion extensions, it costs around $800 total, including the fabulous Remy hair.

Prices go up if you want more length. Take a tape measure and see how long 18" is, starting from your earlobe.

My application prices are lower than others because I have a small salon with no staff to pay, cheap rent, and low overhead, so I pass on the savings onto you! But I don't compromise on the hair - it's awesome quality hair.

I also offer mobile services if you prefer.

Q5) Do you wear hair extensions?
You bet I do! I love wearing hair extensions and trying new looks - for example, going brunette in the Fall and Winter, and blonde in Spring/Summer.
I also like trying different textures, like straight sometimes, and wavy/curly other times.

Q6) What kind of bond do you use?
I use a new kind of strong, invisible keratin that crumbles out when it's time for removal. It's so easy, even you could remove them yourself if you wanted to.

Keratin is what your hair and fingernails are made out of.

Because I pre-tip the hair myself, I have total control over how much hair to use on each extension, and how much keratin to use. I'm able to make the bonds as large or as tiny as I want. (This is important for keeping the bonds invisible close to the hair lines and near the crown of the head, where the hair is normally thinner there.)
