Caring for Your
Human Hair Extensions

Your new long hair will take some getting used to, but with the proper aftercare routine, the extensions will look beautiful until they are removed.

Brush Roots
(when dry)

Shampoo & Condition Properly

Tie up or Braid

It's very important to avoid tangles and mats at the root area where your links are located. That's what your complimentary loop brush is for.
  1. Take a small section, and hold at the root area.
Start at the bottom, work your way up brushing more and more until you reach the roots.
Focus on the root area with the loop brush.

  2. Do not brush hair when wet.
  1. Tie the top half of your hair and shampoo your nape area.
Then let down your hair and shampoo the rest.
    Rinse extra well.

  2. Since conditioner can promote slippage of the extensions, avoid your root area.

  3. Use a deep treatment once a week, avoiding root area where the links are located.

  4. Do a cool water rinse to seal the cuticle and make your hair shiny.

  5. Use the Pureology Hydrate line for best results.
(in Kelowna, you can get this at Bogie & Bacall
or Chatters - both located at the mall)
  • At bedtime, braid hair into two side braids to prevent tangling and matting at the links
(or form a bun on top of your head and secure with a soft scrunchie.)

  • Use a satin pillow for best results

  • Avoid salt water or chlorine water -  it is very drying and can discolor blonde hair

DO

DON'T

* Brush your bonds everyday (at your roots) with your extension brush

* Wash your hair every 2 or more days  (not everyday).
TIP: Tie up the first half and concentrate first on the nape of the neck, then let the rest down and shampoo the remaining hair.
Rinse well.

* Use a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant

* Sleep on a satin covered pillow if possible (helps prevent tangles)

* Tie your hair up for bedtime, or two low braids.

* Wear a cap in chlorine pools (chlorine is very drying, makes your hair tangle, and can make blondes look green.)

* Avoiding the links, saturate hair with conditioner before entering the ocean (sun and salt water is very drying and can make any long hair mat and tangle)

* Wear a hat in the sun, or at least, tie up your hair

* Keep the extensions in for more than 3 months

* Wash your hair everyday

* Perm, relax or dye your hair extensions

* Wash your hair with your head upside down

* Wash/style your hair with products that have alcohol in them

* Brush your hair when wet

TIP: Heat is hair's enemy (always use a protective heat product to  prevent heat damage.)
